Bernardaud Omar Victor Diop Touki
Bernardaud Omar Victor Diop Touki β Limoges Porcelain Sculpture
Limited edition of 199 Bernardaud and Omar Victor Diop have collaborated to create Touki , a porcelain sculpture manufactured in its Limoges workshops. Born in Dakar, Senegal in 1980, Omar Victor Diop's work combines the visual arts, fashion and photographic portraiture, drawing inspiration from historical and contemporary references, as well as from the world of fashion and design. This collaboration gave him the opportunity to create in three dimensions for the first time. This porcelain self-portrait opens a new page in his artistic work. The many references and symbols present in the work make him one of a long line of Africans who once travelled the world to immerse themselves in it and leave their mark. This sculpture is a tribute to porcelain craftsmanship: modeling, engraving, coloring, painting and even the technique of lithophane, used to illuminate his journey.
The Bernardaud Omar Victor Diop Touki is crafted by Bernardaud, the storied Limoges porcelain house founded in 1863. From its workshops in Limoges, France, Bernardaud has supplied the world's finest tables for more than 160 years, pairing the region's famed kaolin porcelain with contemporary artistry.
