Christmas dinner gets all the attention, but in many homes the best meal of the holiday is Christmas morning: presents under the tree, coffee in festive mugs, something warm from the oven and nobody in a hurry. A Christmas morning brunch table doesn't need to be formal – it just needs to feel like the holiday.
Here is how we'd set it: holiday mugs for coffee and cocoa, a teapot and creamer that come out once a year, plates for pastries, and a carafe of juice. For the Christmas dinner table, see our Christmas table decorating ideas.
Holiday Mugs for Coffee and Cocoa
Herend's Christmas dessert mugs are hand-painted in Herend, Hungary, with 24k gold accents. Each holds 11 oz – generous enough for hot chocolate with whipped cream. See all mugs.
Bernardaud Noël: Coffee and Tea Service
Bernardaud's Noël is Limoges porcelain made for the holiday table. Bernardaud describes the service as perfect for a Christmas or Thanksgiving table. See the Bernardaud Noël collection.

Christmas Morning Brunch Ideas
- Make it ahead. A breakfast casserole, a quiche or overnight French toast can be prepared on Christmas Eve and baked in the morning.
- Set the table the night before. Lay out the mugs, plates and napkins after the children are asleep, and the morning stays relaxed.
- Keep it warm. Fill the hot beverage server with coffee or cocoa so guests can help themselves between presents.
- Start a mug tradition. A new holiday mug for each family member every year becomes a collection the children will remember.
For collectors who add a new Christmas figurine or ornament every year, browse Herend Christmas figurines and our crystal Christmas ornaments. And for the morning after New Year's Eve, see our New Year's Day brunch.
