Daum Care Guide
Most Daum pieces are made in pâte de cristal, a crystal paste prized for its depth of color and fine relief. It is sensitive to changes in temperature and to humidity, so it is cared for mostly dry.
Everyday cleaning
- Dust with a soft, dry microfiber cloth, without water or any cleaning product.
- Never put Daum crystal in the dishwasher, microwave or oven.
Deeper cleaning
- If dust is ingrained or a piece has lost its shine, rinse it in clean, lukewarm water with no detergent, then let it dry for 24 hours.
- Apply the liquid wax from the Daum Maintenance Kit with its brush or spray, let it dry again, and buff with a soft, lint-free cloth.
- If a piece gets wet by accident, treat it with the care kit right away.
- The kit is made for crystal only. Don't use it on metal or stone bases, or on gold leaf or palladium finishes.
Metal, bronze and gilded finishes
- Don't wet bronze or other metal parts. Dust them gently and polish with a soft cloth.
- Gilded areas need extra care: use a very soft, long-bristled brush or a can of compressed air, and never a cloth, sponge or duster.
Placement and handling
- Keep pieces indoors, out of direct sunlight and away from strong heat sources.
- Set each piece on a stable surface that can bear its weight.
- Daum pieces are fragile. When moving one, avoid slippery cotton gloves.
Glassware
- Daum glasses are washed by hand only, in lukewarm water with a mild soap and a non-abrasive sponge. Rinse well, dry right away with a microfiber cloth, handle glasses by the stem, and avoid sudden temperature changes.
