Ginori 1735 marks the care for each piece with symbols on its product page, and they vary with the decoration. Here is what those symbols mean in practice. For any single piece, its own care line comes first.

Dishwasher

  • Many pieces without metallic decoration are dishwasher and microwave safe.
  • Most decorated pieces, including those with gold or platinum, may go in the dishwasher on a delicate cycle no hotter than 120°F (50°C).
  • Hand-painted pieces, and others marked hand wash only, should never go in the dishwasher. Wash them by hand with a gentle detergent and a soft sponge, then dry with a soft cloth.

Microwave and oven

  • Never put gold, platinum or any other metallic decoration in the microwave. Many other decorated pieces are also marked do not microwave, so use the microwave only for pieces marked microwave safe.
  • Keep Ginori porcelain out of the oven and away from open flame.

Glassware and cutlery

  • Mouth-blown glassware and stainless steel cutlery may go in the dishwasher on a delicate cycle no hotter than 120°F (50°C). Never put them in the microwave.

Decorative pieces

  • Pieces marked not for food contact, such as some trays, boxes and sculptures, are for display only. Dust them or wipe them gently with a soft cloth.
