Jay Strongwater pieces are finished by hand with enamel and hand-set crystals. Their care is simple, and a gentle hand keeps every detail in place.

Everyday cleaning

  • Wipe gently with a damp cloth. That is all most pieces need.
  • Avoid abrasive cleaners.

Glass, porcelain and stone

  • Glass and stone: hand wash with a gentle dish soap, with no abrasive cleaners.
  • Porcelain: hand wash only.
  • None of these pieces is dishwasher or microwave safe.

Ornaments

  • When not on display, wrap ornaments in acid-free tissue and store them in their original box, or in an airtight container lined with acid-free tissue.

Frames and mirrors

  • To change the face paper or photo in a frame, loosen the tabs with the small screwdriver provided, push them away from the backplate and lift it off. Lay the frame face down with the glass in place, add the new paper or photo with its backing sheet, then refit the backplate and tighten the tabs.
  • Wall mirrors: professional installation is recommended. Spray glass cleaner onto a clean cloth, not onto the mirror, and wipe the glass gently. Keep the frame dry, wiping it only with a damp cloth.

Candles and candelabras

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep it out of reach of children and pets, on a level, heat-resistant surface away from anything flammable.
  • Remove all packaging before lighting, trim the wick to 1/4 inch each time, and burn for no more than 5 hours.
  • Don't burn a candle all the way down, and let wax and holder cool fully before handling, since glass and metal get hot.
  • Candelabra cups unscrew for cleaning. To remove dripped wax, put the cup or holder in the freezer for 15 to 20 minutes, then gently lift the hardened wax away without scratching the finish.
