Vista Alegre Care Guide
Vista Alegre gives every porcelain, crystal and glass piece its own care note on its product page, and the advice changes from collection to collection. This guide sums up what those notes say. For any single piece, the care line in its description comes first.
Porcelain
- Many everyday collections are dishwasher and microwave safe.
- Many decorated pieces are not suitable for the microwave. For these, Vista Alegre advises short, low-temperature dishwasher cycles, and not putting them through the dishwasher too often.
- Some pieces should not go in the dishwasher at all. Pieces marked for decorative use only are not meant for food; clean them by hand.
- Avoid sudden changes in temperature.
Crystal and glass
- Much of Vista Alegre's crystal is neither dishwasher nor microwave safe: wash it by hand with a mild soap and dry with a soft cloth.
- Some crystal and glass can take a short, low-temperature dishwasher cycle, as its product page notes. None of it goes in the microwave.
Cutlery
- Stainless steel cutlery is dishwasher safe; keep it out of the microwave.
- Vista Alegre prefers the dishwasher for its 24-carat gold-plated cutlery, below 140°F (60°C), with a detergent of 10% phosphate or less. By hand, use hot water, a neutral detergent and a soft cloth, without pressing on the pieces.
- Some finishes, such as matte black, call for a soft cloth or sponge and never abrasive products; dishwasher temperatures should stay below about 122°F (50°C).
