Gien Oiseaux de Paradis
Oiseaux de Paradis, 'birds of paradise', is one of the Faïencerie de Gien's enduring classics, a pattern that has passed from one generation of the house to the next and remains a benchmark for formal French tableware. The exotic bird sits inside a scalloped rim that is finished by hand with a fine blue filet, the small detail that separates it from a printed reproduction. Gien's newer Herbier du Paradis reworks the same design as a botanical pattern, and the two combine well.
Gien Oiseaux de Paradis is French faience by Gien, made in the town of Gien on the Loire since 1821.
