Halcyon Days Care Guide
Halcyon Days works in two main materials: enamel on copper, used for its boxes, bangles and cufflinks, and fine bone china for its tableware. The bone china advice below follows Halcyon Days' own guidance. Halcyon Days' website gives no cleaning steps for its enamels, so for those we suggest the gentle routine below.
Fine bone china
- Never expose bone china to extreme changes in temperature or to an open flame.
- Never pour boiling water into a cold cup or pot: warm the piece first, and let the water come off the boil before pouring.
- Plates and serving dishes can be warmed gently before serving.
- Pieces decorated with gold or other precious metals should always be washed by hand, never in the dishwasher, and should not go in the microwave.
- Faint gray marks left by cutlery can be removed with a little tooth powder.
Storing bone china
- Place a paper napkin or soft cloth between stacked plates.
- Don't stack cups or hang them from cup hooks, which can weaken the handles.
Enamel boxes, bangles and cufflinks
- Dust with a soft, dry cloth.
- Keep enamel away from water, metal polish and harsh cleaners.
- Enamel can chip if knocked, so set boxes down gently and close lids with care.
