Wedgwood Care Guide

Wedgwood care depends on the material and on how each piece is marked. Here is what that means for the bone china, silver and crystal we carry.

Bone china

• Bone china is dishwasher safe only when marked; when it is, use a gentle cycle, or wash by hand.
• It is microwave safe unless it has metallic decoration, such as a gold or platinum band; those pieces never go in the microwave.
• It is not for the oven or freezer unless specifically labeled.
• Keep it away from direct flame and sudden temperature changes.
• Place napkins or protective liners between stacked pieces, and remove stains with a soft, non-abrasive cleaner.

Silver-plated and sterling silver pieces

• Silver plate: hand wash only, with non-abrasive cleaners. Dry it immediately, don't soak it, and keep it away from extreme heat.
• Sterling silver: tarnish is natural. Clean it regularly with a suitable silver polish, and avoid abrasive cleaners.
• Neither goes in the dishwasher, microwave, oven or freezer.

Crystal and glass

• Hand wash carefully and dry with a lint-free cloth, without twisting delicate stems.
• Crystal and glass are not for the dishwasher, microwave, oven or freezer. Protect them from sudden temperature changes, and don't store glasses upside down.
